This is a blog for those of us who live with more dogs than we perhaps reasonably should. It is for those of us who spend large chunks of our day managing challenging dogs and/or dogs that don't get along, for those of us that no one else really understands why we do what we do, and for those of us who take on those dogs that no one else can or is willing to deal with and then somehow, against all the odds, manage to make it all work.
We currently have five in our household (not to mention the six cats), three of whom are chronically undersocialised, one who suffers extreme anxiety, two who are liable to snap at you if they think there's a chance you're going to hurt them, four of whom bark at just about everyone they see, two of whom behave aggressively towards other dogs when on the leash, and, worst of all, two who absolutely do not get along and cannot be together, ever.
I won't say it's been easy, but I have learned more about dogs, canine behaviour and body language than I could ever have imagined. But most of all I have learned more about myself than perhaps I ever wished to know. This is our journey...
This is a blog for all of us who share our lives with traumatised rescue dogs, dogs who may have been beaten, abused or abandoned, or who have never been given the opportunity to properly experience life. This is especially for those of us who live in complicated multi-dog households where some of the dogs do not get along, a place where we can share our experiences - both good and bad - and perhaps offer moral support. From the unique perspective of a qualified Animal Behaviourist.
